Police Seek Man Who Set Long Beach Resident's American Flag On Fire

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a young man who took down an American flag that was flying outside a Long Beach residence and burned it in the street.

Police on Thursday released surveillance photos and video of the incident that occurred in early morning darkness on July 25.

Shortly after midnight, a man who appeared to be in his early 20s walked up to the front porch of the home, loitered in the area for a while, then removed the banner from a flagpole and set it ablaze in the street, where it eventually burned up.

The homeowners discovered the crime around 8 a.m.

Police responded along with Fire Department investigators who began an arson investigation.
