Police: San Jose Woman Crashes Car To Escape Abductor

MOUNTAIN VIEW (AP) — Police in the San Francisco Bay Area say a woman escaped from her kidnapper by crashing her vehicle into another vehicle on a freeway.

Mountain View police have arrested 23-year-old Kenneth Middlebrook in connection with the woman's kidnapping and another kidnapping.

Police say Middlebrook approached the woman in the driveway of her San Jose home on Sunday and convinced her to give him a ride to Mountain View, but later became agitated and held her against her will.

The woman told the motorist she crashed into about what happened after they pulled to the side of the road. Police say Middlebrook, meanwhile, drove off and kidnapped another woman. He allegedly drove her around for hours in her car before stopping in Ione, where he was located and detained by police.
