Police Officer In San Diego Shoots Naked Burglary Suspect

SAN DIEGO (AP) - A San Diego police officer has shot and wounded a naked burglary suspect.

Police Capt. Mike Hastings says the man attacked the officer Monday and they scuffled over the officer's gun before the shooting.

Police were called to a home burglary, and the first officer to arrive saw a naked man trying to break in through a window.

Hastings says the officer drew his gun and told the man to surrender, but he attacked the officer, and the officer dropped his weapon. The two struggled over the gun, and the officer twice tried to use a stun gun on the suspect until grabbing his gun and shooting him in the torso.

The man is in fair condition. The officer has only minor scratches.
