Police: Man Shot And Killed By Two Officers In Ceres

CERES (CBS13) - Police are investigating after officers shot and killed a suspect in Ceres on Wednesday night.

The scene was at an apartment complex along the 2600 block of Don Pedro Road. According to the Ceres Police Department, two officers were investigating a report of illegal drug activity when they encountered a suspicious man.

Officers say the man took off running, sparking a chase.

It was during the chase that officers say they saw the man reach for his waist area as if he were trying to pull out an item.

The officers then pulled out their guns and shot the man.

Medics were soon responded pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.

Both the police department and the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office are investigating the incident. The officers have been placed on administrative leave, as standard in officer-involved shooting cases.
