Police: Man Poured Suspicious Substance Onto Food At South Lake Tahoe Grocery Store

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (CBS13) - Authorities are looking for a man suspected of dumping a suspicious substance into food at a South Lake Tahoe grocery store.

Police say the incidents happened at a Raley's supermarket at 4000 Lake Tahoe Boulevard. Officers were called to the store on Tuesday and were told that a man had walked up to the self-serve food court and poured an unknown substance on top of the food.

Looking at surveillance video, officers believe the same man did the same thing to food at the store at least other three times since Nov. 8.

Investigators have taken samples of the substance and are analyzing it. Authorities note no illnesses linked to the substance have been reported.

Willingly contaminating food with a harmful substance is a felony, police note.

Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect. No other distinguishing details about the man have been released.

Anyone with information on who the man may be is asked to call detectives at (530) 542-6100.
