Police: Man Jumped Into Patrol Car, Tried To Drive Off

STOCKTON (CBS13) – Officers have arrested a man they say tried to take off with their patrol car.

The Stockton Police Department says officers responded to the 300 block of South Aurora Street a little after 12:30 a.m. on Monday due to an alarm.

While officers were investigating, a man jumped into the driver's seat of the patrol car and tried to drive away. The officers were able to stop him and get him out and into custody.

Police have identified the suspect as 31-year-old Davanta Crenshaw. He was booked at San Joaquin County Jail and is facing charges of attempted vehicle theft. Crenshaw also had warrants out for his arrest, police say.
