The incident started just before 8 a.m. Citrus Heights police say officers were called to Northwoods Park on Old Ranch Road due to a suspicious man looking into parked cars.

Officers soon spotted a man sleeping in a car in the area. One officer talked to the man, but after he identified himself as a probationer the man appeared to get nervous. Once the officer asked if the man had anything suspicious in his car, the man became combative and hit the gas pedal.

The man led officers on a chase until he crashed along the 8100 block of Old Ranch Road – just missing a home. Officers were able to stop the man before he could get out and run.
