Police: Man Attacked, Tried To Drag Sac State Student Into Bushes On Bike Trail

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Police are investigating after a Sacramento State student was attacked along an American River bike path.

The incident happened late Thursday morning. Sacramento State police say the student, a woman, left the campus and was walking along the bike path when a man on a bicycle passed her just west of the Howe Avenue overpass.

She says the man ditched his bike and walked back towards her. The man then told her to come with him, but she refused.

He then hit her on the head and tried to drag her into the bushes. She was able to break his grasp and run away.

The woman reported the incident and has since been treated at a hospital for her injuries.

The man is described as a 5'6'' to 5''8'' middle-aged black man with a muscular build, short black hair and no facial hair. The man was reportedly wearing a dark-colored, loosely fitting tanktop and dark pants.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sacramento State Police Department at (916) 278-6000.
