Police: Man Arrested For Stealing From Stockton Church Office

STOCKTON (CBS13) – Police say that a man 21-year-old man has been arrested after he was spotted stealing from a local church's office.

The incident happened a little before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday along the 3800 block of N. Sutter Street. Witnesses called police to report that they had seen a man breaking into and stealing from a church in the area, making off with a computer.

Police say officers showed up at the scene in time to see the suspect running from the area.

A perimeter was set up and the suspect, 21-year-old Joseph Garcia, was soon found and arrested. The computer he allegedly stole was also recovered and returned to the church.

Garcia was booked at San Joaquin County Jail on burglary and resisting arrest charges. His bail has been set at $108,000, according to the jail website.
