Police: Man And His Pomeranian Shot While Out On A Walk

MODESTO (CBS13) – Police say a man and his dog were shot while out for a walk in Modesto Saturday evening.

The incident happened at Everett Park on Mount Vernon Drive. According to the Modesto Police Department, a 59-year-old man was walking his Pomeranian at the park when a man confronted him.

A short exchange of words somehow escalated to the suspect pulling out a gun and opening fire.

The dog and the 59-year-old man were shot. Police said Sunday that the dog has since undergone surgery and is still hospitalized, while the man was shot in the leg and has since been treated and released.

Police say the suspect was part of a group of people at the park. He was last seen taking off in a 80s or 90s-model sedan.
