Police Investigating Homicide In South Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A young man is dead after a shooting in south Sacramento early Sunday morning.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers were called to the 7500 block of Wainscott Way a little before 2:30 a.m. after gunfire was heard in the area.

Officers found evidence that someone had been hurt, but no victims were at the scene.

About 15 minutes later, officers were alerted about a male in his late teens who had shown up at a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. The teen was soon pronounced dead, police say.

Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators have canvassed the area where they believe the shooting occurred and have been interviewing witnesses. A motive for the shooting is not yet known, police say.
