UPDATED: Stockton Police Release Identity Of Human Torso Found In Campfire

STOCKTON (CBS13) — Stockton police have identified the dismembered remains of a man discovered in a murder suspect's car and the torso in a campfire.

Police say 49-year-old Valentina Paz and 38-year-old Bryan Cook were roommates of the victim, Michael Shane Jones.

Stockton Police were tipped off to a possible homicide on Mist Trail Drive. They found a bloody crime scene at the home, but the tenants had left.

Tuolumne County Sheriff's deputies helped find the suspect at a campsite in Groveland. Stockton Police arrived and found a human torso in a campfire where Cook was detained.

After obtaining a warrant, police found the dismembered remains of an unidentified man in Cook's vehicle.

Cook was arrested on suspicion of homicide.
