Police: Dad Set Vallejo House Fire That Killed 5-Year-Old

VALLEJO, Calif. (AP) - Police say a fire at a Northern California home that killed a 5-year-old boy was arson, and they have named the boy's father as a suspect.

Vallejo police are looking for 53-year-old Darrylone Shuemake Sr. in the weekend blaze, which also injured the boy's mother and teenage brother.

Fire officials say heavy smoke and flames were coming from the house when crews arrived at about 10 a.m. Sunday.

Several neighbors tried to get inside the house to save the child. Firefighters were also unable to get to him.

The boy's mother had second- and third-degree burns. The teenage boy had minor burns. The two were treated at Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center.

The victims' names have not been released.
