Police: Best Buy Burglars Knew What They Were Doing In Woodland Heist

WOODLAND (CBS13) — A Best Buy store was hit by burglars who knew what they were doing, and it's not the first time it's happened.

The crooks broke into the store in the middle of the night using some sort of saw to chew a hole just big enough to crawl through in a thick metal roll-down door.

"Which caused a lot of smoke," said Woodland Police Sgt. Brett Hancock. "After the smoke cleared, they went in and stole all the property."

The Best Buy bounty was more than $10,000 worth of smartphones.

"This one is similar to other burglaries Best Buy is experiencing," he said.

A similar heist happened in Reno in January. The same plan was used: get in, grab small, expensive items and get out.

Police say these guys don't seem like rookies and are hoping surveillance video will put an end to the speedy smartphone thieves.

Best Buy declined to comment on the investigation.
