Placerville man dies after motorcycle crash on Cold Springs Road

PLACERVILLE – A Placerville man was killed in a motorcycle crash over the weekend in the city, authorities say.

The Placerville Police Department says, just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday, officers responded near Cold Springs and Middletown roads to investigate reports of a crash.

At the scene, first responders found that a motorcycle had crashed. Officers and El Dorado County Fire personnel started medical aid, but police say the rider soon died at the scene.

The rider has been identified as 42-year-old Placerville resident Shawn Martin.

Exactly what led up to the crash remains under investigation, police say.
