Placer County Sheriff's Office Patrolling With 2 New Off-Road Vehicles

PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) - The Placer County Sheriff's Office announced Friday it's now using new off-road vehicles to help patrol remote areas of the county.

Thanks to a $100,000 grant from California State Parks, Off-Highway Vehicle Division, the office bought two Kawasaki Teryx off-road vehicles, training and salaries for its operators, according to a sheriff's office statement.

Deputies will travel in pairs, patrolling hard-to-reach areas for criminal activity and motorists going off-trail. One vehicle will frequent the Mammoth Bar OHV Park and the other will travel the the Rubicon Trail. Both areas are seeing increased usage.
