Placer County High-Speed Chase On Interstate 80 Ends In Crash Down Embankment

PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) — A high-speed pursuit in Placer County ended in a crash on Thursday.

The Placer County Sheriff's Department says a man and a woman were in a car that crashed in the area of westbound Interstate 80 at the Weimar crossroads.

Deputies were responding to a family dispute in Colfax, and when they saw they suspect, they say he took off at speeds up to 110 mph on the interstate.

The car ended up down an embankment where a tree fell on it. The female passenger was able to get out on her own, but the male driver was trapped. Crews worked to free him from the car. His condition is unknown

The suspect is described as a parolee who was deemed armed and dangerous.
