Suspect wanted in West Sacramento homicide identified

WEST SACRAMENTO - Police have identified a suspect they are searching for after a person was found dead in West Sacramento on the night of April 3 in a reported assault.

The West Sacramento Police Department said it received reports around 7:30 p.m. that day of an assault in the area of N. Harbor Boulevard and Riverbank Road. 

When officers arrived, they found one person dead. No other victims were located.

On Monday, April 8, the Yolo County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as West Sacramento resident Richard Gomez, 50.

West Sacramento police have since confirmed that they are looking for 37-year-old Joseph Baker in connection with the homicide.

What led up to the incident is unknown.
