Pedestrian Struck And Killed Crossing Street In North Highlands
NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) — An 18-year-old woman died after being hit by a vehicle while she was crossing the street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Brianna Norman, 18, was attempting to cross Madison Avenue well outside of the crosswalk when she was struck by a Nissan Pathfinder.
The CHP says the driver, 47-year-old Maria Valdiva, was driving the speed limit at the time of the crash and was unable to avoid Norman.
The 18-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries and would later die at the hospital.
Valdiva was not injured in the accident, nor was her vehicle damaged.
Another vehicle, which is described as a 2001-2004, red Nissan Frontier king cab pickup truck, may have also hit Norman, according to a CHP statement. It kept driving westbound on Madison Avenue.
