Patient Killed In Kern County Medical Helicopter Crash Identified

MCFARLAND, Calif. (AP) - Authorities identified a patient killed when a medical helicopter crashed in Central California, killing all four people onboard.

The Kern County Coroner's Office said Monday that 40-year-old Kathryn Ann Brown of Springville died in the crash. The SkyLife helicopter went down Thursday night in rolling hills near McFarland, a community 135 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

The helicopter was taking the patient on a 50-mile flight from Porterville to a hospital in Bakersfield.

The pilot, a nurse and a paramedic were also killed.

The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation.

Investigators have said there is no obvious cause of the crash.

Rain and fog are at the forefront of the investigation, but authorities say they're considering every possibility.

They say the pilot made no distress calls.
