Parvo Outbreak Among Dogs In Marana

MARANA, Ariz. (AP) — Pet owners in Marana are being warned about an outbreak of a virus that can kill dogs.

KGUN-TV in Tucson reported (http://bit.ly/2eK34wx) Friday that Marana Parks and Recreation officials say veterinarians believe parvo is spreading among multiple dogs, some of which have died.

The Parks department is urging people to pick up after dogs when at dog parks and other public areas to keep the disease from spreading.

The Twin Peaks Veterinary Center has already seen nearly 20 cases.

Staff there says at least one case involved a dog that had gone to a dog park at Cortaro and Silverbell.

Marana residents are urged to avoid that park altogether.

Parvovirus is a contagious illness among canines.

Symptoms can include vomiting, diarrhea and lack of appetite.
