Rifle Found During Search For Armed Suspects In Roseville

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – The latest on a search for two armed suspects in Roseville:

11:50 a.m. 

Police say an AR-15 style rifle was found in the woods in the general vicinity of their search area. The weapon has a silencer on it, which is illegal and difficult to obtain in California.

Police say the weapon and magazines that were found are consistent with the noises people reported hearing in the morning.

The suspects still have not been located. Officers have broken down the perimeter after searching the area thoroughly.

8:30 a.m. 

All but one lane on westbound Interstate 80 has been reopened, Roseville authorities say. One lane, the rightmost lane, remains closed due to the police search.

Expect heavy traffic for the next hour or so. All Roseville transit buses are delayed due to the incident.

Police say roads and businesses on Galleria Boulevard and East Roseville Parkway, which is near the suspect search, are open and safe.

7 a.m.

Police activity has a part of westbound Interstate 80 through Roseville closed.

Roseville police says they were chasing two suspects on foot in the Antelope Creek area, across the street from the Galleria. Witnesses reported seeing two men firing shotguns, police say.

Officers are now looking for the suspects in the Atlantic Street area, near I-80.

Caltrans reports westbound I-80 between Rocklin and Eureka Roads is closed due to the police activity.
