Oroville police shoot armed suspect after responding to disturbance call

OROVILLE – A suspect was shot by an officer after an incident in Oroville late Sunday night, police say.

The incident started as a call near Oro Bangor Highway and Roseben Avenue in south Oroville around 11:30 p.m. Police say a disturbance involving a firearm was reported.

Just after getting to the scene, Oroville police say an officer shot an armed suspect. No officers were hurt in the incident.

No other details about what led up to the shooting have been released by authorities.

Officers started first aid just after the shooting, with the suspect being taken to the hospital by medics shortly after. The suspect's current condition has not been stated.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the suspect who was shot. 

A standard-protocol investigation is now underway, police say.
