Orangevale Woman, 62, Goes Missing During Hike In Fresno County

FRESNO COUNTY (CBS13) – Authorities say the search is on for an Orangevale woman missing in Fresno County.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff's Office, 62-year-old Miyuki Harwood was out hiking with a group near Horsehead Lake. Somehow she got separated and was reported missing Friday morning.

A California Highway Patrol helicopter was called in to fly over the area she was last seen, but smoke from the Rough Fire burning in Kings Canyon about 10 miles away obscured the view. Search crews then set out Friday afternoon and scoured the area where she was last seen, but came up empty.

Smoky conditions in the area are posing challenge, but crews will continue to search for Harwood Saturday and into Sunday.

As of Sunday, authorities say the smoke has gotten worse and continues to hinder search efforts.
