2 dead in shooting at Orangevale mobile home park, sheriff says
Authorities say two people have died and a suspect is under arrest after a shooting at a Sacramento County mobile home park.
The scene is at the Sunshine Mobile Village Mobile Home Park near Main Avenue and Greenback Lane in the Orangevale area.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office confirmed that they were investigating the shooting as a double homicide, with a woman having died at the scene and a man later dying at the hospital.
A spokesperson for the sheriff's office said deputies were first dispatched around noon to the mobile home park. That initial call had reported the first victim being shot, and the deputies were notified of the second victim while they were on the way to the scene.
Folsom police officers assisted Sacramento deputies in the search for the suspect, who they learned was a resident of the mobile home park and had returned to his trailer. The suspect was located a short while later and was taken into custody without incident.
The sheriff's office has identified the suspect as 58-year-old John Clarke. He has been booked into Sacramento County Jail facing two counts of homicide.
Henry Russell Giles has been identified as one of the victims in the shooting by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office. He was 63. The other victim's name has not been released.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators remain at the scene.
