Firefighters resuscitate cat rescued in Orangevale house fire

1 person injured, 2 cats rescued in Orangevale house fire

ORANGEVALE – One person has been taken to the hospital and two cats were rescued after a house fire in Sacramento County Monday morning.

Metro Fire of Sacramento crews responded to the scene along Chestnut Avenue, off of Greenback Lane, a little after 8 a.m.

At the scene, officers found that a fire had started in a back room of the home. The flames then spread into the attic.

Firefighters say three people lived at the home. One of those residents was then taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation injuries.

Two cats were rescued by firefighters in the incident, Metro Fire says. One of the cats was successfully resuscitated by firefighters just outside the home.

Exactly what started the fire is under investigation.
