Old Sacramento's Christmas Tree Arrives

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Old Sacramento is getting into the holiday spirit.

Monday morning, crews started setting up the large Christmas tree on K between Front and 2nd streets.

This year's tree is a 60-foot-tall white fir from Burney in Shasta County.

Crews will use a crane to secure it in a hole dug just for the tree. Then volunteers will start work on stringing up to 100,000 lights and many, many ornaments ahead of the tree lighting.

The official tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving, Nov. 23, at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, the State Capitol's tree is also scheduled to arrive.
