SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - CHP officers are searching for a hit-and-run driver who hit a teenage pedestrian on Saturday night in South Sacramento.

The 17-year-old girl had a walk signal and was crossing Fruitridge Road at Vista Avenue when a vehicle headed east on Fruitridge Road blew the red light and hit the girl, throwing her onto the side of the road.

She was taken by ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center to be treated for major injuries.

The vehicle then reportedly sped off eastbound on Fruitridge Road.

CHP investigators say evidence found at the scene of the crash suggests the vehicle could be a dark-blue 2002-03 Toyota Solara.
