Officer Shot, Injured After Chase In Bay Area

PITTSBURG, Calif. (AP) -- Police say an officer was shot after a chase and has since been released from the hospital.

KRON-TV reports that Pittsburg police say an Antioch officer was shot in their town Wednesday.

Authorities say Antioch officers were chasing a black BMW that they believed was stolen. According to police, the pursuit ended when the suspect crashed the car and shot at officers as they approached, injuring one.

Police say officers then shot at the suspect and he surrendered uninjured.

Contra Costa County fire says seven vehicles were involved in a crash in the area and four people were taken to the hospital. It's not clear if the crash was related the shooting.
