Modesto Officer Shoots, Kills Robbery Suspect At Gas Station

MODESTO (CBS13) – A Modesto Police Officer shot and killed an armed robbery suspect Saturday morning.

The incident happened just after 5:40 a.m. According to the Modesto Police Department, an officer was fueling up his police vehicle at the end of his shift when he saw a masked man rob the Cruisers gas station on the corner of East Briggsmore Avenue and Claus Road.

Police say the officer engaged the armed suspect and several shots were fired.  The suspect was killed; the officer was not injured.

Per standard procedure following an officer-involved shooting, the officer has been place don paid administrative leave.

Detectives with Modesto Police and the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office are investigating the incident.
