OAKDALE – A man is suspected of taking off from a Wells Fargo Bank in Oakdale with $1,200 earlier this week, police said.

On Tuesday, officers responded to a reported robbery in progress at Well Fargo on West F Street around 4 p.m., the Oakdale Police Department said.

The suspect was reported to have taken off north on 1st Street in the direction of Poplar Avenue.

The suspect, 21-year-old Domingo Santana-Ochoa of Oakdale, was detained soon after and later identified by two witnesses, police said.

Witnesses told police that Santana-Ochoa entered the bank with a blue bag in his hand, telling employees to get down while claiming he had a gun in the bag, police said.

Bank employees said Santana-Ochoa took off with about $1,200, which was later recovered. Police did not say that a gun was found.

No injuries were reported and Santana-Ochoa was booked into jail on several charges, like robbery and burglary.
