NORTH SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A vigil was held for a 19-year-old college football player who was gunned down in North Sacramento on Saturday.

According to his family, Syncere Dixon was a Texas college student and football player trying to better his life.

He grew up in North Sacramento and was in town visiting his family for the weekend.

Police said the Dixon was found dead, slumped outside a car near North Avenue and Rio Linda Boulevard.

Police told CBS13 the victim was the driver, but it's not known who else may have been in the vehicle.

Investigators are working to get answers anywhere they can move this case along.  The victims family wants an arrest fast.

"We just want justice for my younger brother, he didn't deserve this.  We have to find out who did this to him", said Andrea Anna Dixon, the victim's sister.
