No Sign Of Orangevale Boater After Accident At Camp Far West Lake

PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) – Search and rescue crews are still looking for a boater who is missing following a boating accident at Camp Far West Lake near Wheatland.

The missing man is identified as 38-year-old Dustin Connor of Orangevale.

According to the Placer County Sheriff's Department, Connor was on a boat with five friends on Sunday when their boat crashed into a wake and split in half.

Three people were taken to a nearby hospital, but Connor went missing.

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department used "sonar" technology Monday, to search for Connor at the bottom of the lake.

Crews were able to recover part of the boat Sunday night, along with several life jackets.

Deputies are looking into whether anyone on the boat was wearing a life jacket before the accident.

Placer County sheriff's deputies say it appears the boat was speeding when it crashed into the wake.

The three people who were taken to a nearby hospital on Sunday are in stable condition, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies say this is a good reminder for boaters to follow the rules. They urge boaters to obey the speed limits on the water, make sure they always have a life jacket on their boat, and not operate a boat if they have been drinking alcohol.
