No Gun Found On Man Killed By LA County Deputies

COMPTON, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies shot a man they say pointed a gun at them but investigators haven't found the weapon.

Thirty-one-year-old Donta (DON'-tay) Taylor died Thursday night in Compton. Two deputies who fired on him say Taylor ran away when they tried to speak to him and then pointed a gun at them near a wash.

Deputies, detectives and a police dog searched for the weapon but found nothing by late Friday afternoon.

Lt. Steve Jauch says the search will continue with metal detectors.

Authorities say anyone who finds a weapon should leave it there and contact the Sheriff's Department immediately.
