NFL Player Pays Special Tribute To Fallen Stanislaus County Deputy

TRACY (CBS13) – An NFL player wore cleats in honor fallen Stanislaus County deputy Dennis Wallace.

Matt Overton is a long snapper for the Indianapolis Colts and a native of Tracy. During the Colt's Thanksgiving night game, Overton wore special cleats in honor of Deputy Wallace.

Thursday, the sheriff's department announced that the cleats had been given to them.

"Thank you Matt for your support of Law Enforcement agencies and officers across the nation and for being a great role model to our young men and women," the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.

Deputy Wallace was shot and killed in November while on patrol in Hughson.

The cleats will be given to Wallace's family, the sheriff's department says.
