New Evacuations Ordered For Rough Fire For First Time In Weeks

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - New growth from an old wildfire has forced evacuations in Central California.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Department says the evacuation area is around the tiny communities of Dunlap and Crabtree. It's not clear how many homes are affected.

It has been weeks since homes had to be evacuated because of the blaze that has been burning since late July, though it has forced the evacuation of campgrounds and caused smoke problems for miles around.

One firefighter was injured and airlifted to a hospital Monday. He's in good condition.

The wildfire has charred 148 square miles, making it the largest of a half-dozen blazes burning around California. It's 31 percent contained.

The fire in Fresno County is currently the largest of six blazes burning in California. It is 31 percent contained.
