New England Patriots trade Chandler Jones to Arizona Cardinals

ESPN's Adam Schefter and Dianna Marie Russini are reporting that the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals have agreed to a trade. The Cardinals will receive defensive end Chandler Jones and the Patriots will receive offensive guard Jonathan Cooper and a second-round pick.

Jones, 26, had a strong year last year with 12.5 sacks. Cooper,who was drafted seventh overall by the Cardinals in the 2013, started just 11 games over the last two years.

Getting rid of a prominent player isn't anything new for the Patriots and considering that he was going into his final year of his rookie contract and was scheduled to make $7.79 million.

Jones also dealt with some bizarre legal issues last year. Perhaps that had something to do with the trade.
