Nevada Man Used Bat, Knife In Violent Attack

ELKO, Nev. (AP) - A 31-year-old northeast Nevada man is facing felony attempted murder and battery charges after his arrest in a baseball bat attack and stabbing of a man at a Spring Creek home.

Elko County Sheriff Jim Pitts tells the Elko Daily Free Press that Steven L. Terry also faces a kidnapping charge in the pre-dawn Sunday incident because a 34-year-old woman said Terry forced her to leave the residence with him against her will.

Terry is accused of attacking the woman's 37-year-old former boyfriend with the bat before stabbing him in the chest.

The wounded man was flown by medical helicopter to a Utah hospital. His name wasn't made public.

Terry was jailed on more than $250,000 bail pending a court appearance. It wasn't immediately clear if he has a lawyer.
