Nearly 20 People Displaced By Fire At Rancho Cordova Apartment Complex

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) – A two-alarm fire at a Rancho Cordova apartment complex has displaced nearly two dozen people early Friday morning.

The scene is at Bishops Court Apartments on Data Drive. Metro Fire says their crews showed up at the scene just after 3:30 a.m. and found flames shooting through the roof of two apartments.

Working quickly, firefighters evacuated the apartments and began their attack. However, the fire spread rapidly to four upstairs units and the roof soon collapsed.

No one was hurt, but the upstairs units were heavily damaged by the fire. Fourth other units downstairs suffered water damage, bringing the estimated damage total to about $500,000.

Metro Fire says 18-20 people have been displaced due to the fire. At one time, 50 firefighters were at the scene battling the blaze.

Investigators are looking into what caused the fire.
