Murder Suspect Somehow Slips Dragnet In Fairfield, Still On The Loose

FAIRFIELD (CBS13) — Fairfield Police thought they had a murder suspect cornered on Wednesday night, but he somehow slipped through their dragnet.

The search continues for Kyle Matthew Amos, 28, who police believe is connected to a homicide near Grange Middle School earlier this month.

Investigators got a tip that he was hiding out in a house on Stephen Street. Neighbors were startled by the commotion with a police helicopter overhead and officers with high-powered rifles.

For hours, SWAT officers were hoping to corner Amos and squeeze him out of the home, but somehow he slipped into the night without a trace.

The next morning revealed where officers fired tear gas grenades were fired through the windows. It also left a feeling of anxiety for neighbors like Jonathan Orola.

"It's really concerning. Usually this area is pretty quiet," he said.

Amos is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Instead, call police if you see him.
