Crews Contain 28-Acre Fire In American River Parkway Near Sutter's Landing

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Multiple units responded to a fire burning in the American River Parkway Wednesday evening.

The Sacramento Fire Department said the fire was burning on both sides of the river near Sutter's Landing. It initially began as a spot fire but spread quickly.

Sutter's Landing and nearby homeless encampments were evacuated from the area.

Late Wednesday evening, firefighters said they contained the 28-acred blaze, though, smoldering and smoke production were expected into the night.

No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
