Motorists On PCH Robbed At Gunpoint Near Half Moon Bay

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) - San Mateo County officials are investigating after a man and woman were robbed at gunpoint on Highway 1.

San Mateo County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sal Zuno says the woman pulled over between Half Moon Bay and San Gregorio Sunday night to let a car that had been tailgating her pass, but when she pulled over the car cut in front of her and stopped suddenly.

Zuno says two men came out of the car, one with a handgun and the other with a knife, and demanded the woman's purse and cellphone and the man's wallet and phone while holding the weapons to their victims' head and neck.

After the robbery the suspects escaped back to their car. The victims suffered no serious injuries.
