Year After Death, Mother Fights To Keep JJ Clavo's Memory Alive

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A year after his murder, the mother of J.J. Clavo has a mission to make sure the 17-year-old is not forgotten.

A large crowd of supporters filled the Grant High School gym Sunday night to honor a life taken far too soon.

"It feels as if he is still here with me," Nicole Clavo said.

The football player was gunned down on his way to get food before a game.

"I've done a scholarship fund in his name where I awarded six kids scholarships," Nicole Clavo said.

The suspect in the deadly shooting is 16-year-old Keymontae Lindsey. Lindsey's next court appearance is Dec. 9.
