Mother, Daughter Killed By Driver While Crossing Street

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Los Angeles police say a mother and daughter killed by a motorist in the San Fernando Valley were in a crosswalk when they were struck.

The coroner's office says 69-year-old Pia Botz and her 31-year-old daughter, Erica Botz, died in the crash Monday on Roscoe Boulevard in the West Hills area.

The Los Angeles Times reports Wednesday that the dog the women were walking was also hit and later died.

Police officials say the driver of the Subaru Forester that struck the women stopped and remained at the scene after the crash. He was not believed to be impaired and was not detained by officers.

The incident is under investigation by the LAPD's Valley Traffic Division.
