More Than A Year Later, Roseville Mom Losing Hope Her Daughter Will Be Found
ROSEVILLE (CBS13) — A Roseville woman should be celebrating her daughter's birthday this weekend, but instead she'll be wondering if she's even alive.
"She had a good heart—she has a good heart."
Darlene Belton accidentally does that sometimes—uses the past tense to talk about her daughter Latrice. It's been tough on her. Latrice has been missing for more than a year, and police don't have a trace to follow.
"She never missed two days, and she was just a very loving person," she said.
Latrice would call often, but the last time she spoke to her mom was April of last year.
"'OK Mom I'll call you back before you go to class,' and I never heard from her again," she said. "That was the last time I heard from her, 9 o'clock in the morning."
Her mom searched all over Oak Park where Latrice would hang out, many times with the wrong people doing the wrong things—drugs.
Darlene says she fears the worst after asking her daughter's friends for answers.
Police have looked into Latrice's disappearance, but came up empty. Now her mom says she's all but convinced her daughter is dead.
"I don't have no hope no more," she said. "My faith is gone, I hold just a little glimmer of hope, I know my baby is no longer here, I know this in my heart."
Darlene says handing out flyers with her daughter's picture this weekend isn't so much about trying to find her, but more trying to find some closure.
"Whoever did anything, whoever let me know, say something please," she said.
