Moose Head Mystery Solved: Lake Tahoe Resort's Mounted Animal Found

LAKE TAHOE (CBS13) — A stolen moose head mystery has been solved, after someone found the familiar decoration on the side of the road.

The moose mystery in North Lake Tahoe has investigators scratching their heads—someone stole an iconic moose head mounted on the wall of the Sunnyside Resort.

The head has been around since at least the late 1980s, and resort owners say it's worth a few thousand dollars.

The El Dorado County Sheriff announced the head was fond on Monday after someone had seen media reports about the missing head. They found it on the side of the road in January and took it home, not knowing where it came from. When the person saw the reports, they contacted the sheriff's department.

Who took the moose head in the first place is still a mystery.
