Mom Arrested After Toddler Points Gun At Police

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - Police have arrested a San Bernardino woman after her toddler pointed a loaded handgun at detectives.

Twenty-year-old Kimberly Torres was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of child endangerment and possessing stolen property. She was freed on bail Wednesday.

She didn't have a public phone listing and it wasn't clear whether she had an attorney.

Detectives went to the woman's home after a gun stolen from an off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy was found in a car she owned.

Police say they were speaking to Torres when her 3-year-old daughter walked out of a bedroom holding a semi-automatic pistol and pointed it at the detectives.

They grabbed the gun, which turned out to be another weapon stolen from the deputy.

The girl has been placed with child welfare officials.
