Shooting In Modesto Claims Life Of One Child, Wounds Another
MODESTO, Calif (CBS13) -- Modesto Police officials are investigating a shooting after a 5-year-old child was fatally wounded and another child was injured.
Police say the drive by shooting occurred around 9:45 p.m. Saturday night in the 1400 block of Lake Park Court. When officials arrived on the scene, they performed life-saving measures on the 5-year-old, however, he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Witnesses in the area told police that another child, who was 6-years-old, was shot and taken to a local hospital by family. Officers say they contacted the boy's family and determined his injuries to be non-life threatening.
Police say the early information suggests the victims were amongst a couple of groups of individuals gathered in front of the residence when they were shot.
The suspect(s) involved have not been identified and a motive for the shooting has not been determined.
