Driver, 19, Suspected In Deadly Modesto Hit-And-Run Arrested

MODESTO (CBS13) – A hit-and-run suspect is behind bars thanks to the help of the Modesto community.

Manuel Gonzalez, 19, was arrested Tuesday for last month's deadly crash on l and 7th Streets.

Officials say 66-year-old Gloria Hawkins died when a stolen SUV driven by Gonzalez blew through a red light and sideswiped her.

Gonzalez and the other passengers in the SUV took off.

Police are still searching for those passengers.
