MLS Commissioner Given Warm Welcome In Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The Major League Soccer commissioner left little doubt that he's all in on Sacramento getting a team.

Don Garber visited Sacramento on Thursday to meet with city officials and representatives from Republic FC. Sacramento city officials even organized a block party to welcome Garber to the city.

Speaking to the crowd at the event, Garber said the league would be expanding to 28 teams and that he hoped Sacramento would be a part of that process.

Expanding on those comments later while talking to the media, Garber said Sacramento is "very high" on the list of cities who could land an MLS team.

Garber expects there to be a formal announcement to come by the end of the year.
